Week 6
This week we have enjoyed a new sensory story about dinosaurs coming to school and how they make a mess with the paint, like playing with the balls outside and have fun eating lunch. We have raised the height of the table and introduced chairs to the classroom more often so that we can sit for different activities. Lots of children have sat at the table to do their work in their TEACCH trays this week as well as sitting next to friends to play with the play-dough.
Week 5
This week we enjoyed the sensory story 'That's not my Dinosaur' and felt different fabrics in a feely box. Lots of us liked the silky slippery fabric and the fuzzy one. We have also loved exploring the new resources in the outdoor area, especially the water trays and guttering for pouring water down. We have also liked getting cozy now that we have cushions in the rainbow den. During messy play we have explored herbs with the play dough and got messy mixing ingredients to bake a cake! It was delicious after we added icing and sprinkles.
Week 4
This week we have had fun with the pretend food and had a dinosaur picnic. Some of us loved feeding the dinosaurs fruit and they have had juice to drink. We have also explored the winter clothes dress up clothes. Some of us have tried very hard to put on gloves and we have loved the different woolly hats and putting on different boots. We enjoyed the 'Dinosaurs love underpants' story and listening to different dinosaur sounds on the talking tins. During messy play we stuck different shapes on to dinosaurs to create a big picture. In our library time we bring in some of the library books to the classroom to share with the children. The children have been learning to turn the pages and look at things in the pictures.
Week 3
This week we have seen lots of determination amongst the children to solve problems and take part in new activities. We have watched children completing puzzles independently, trying to stack cups inside each other, tidying up on their own and rolling objects down a ramp. We also enjoyed a new sensory story about 10 fierce dinosaurs that counted down to 1 dinosaur falling asleep. We have continued to be very excited about the sound recordings on the talking tins linked to the story.
Week 2
This week we have started our dinosaur topic by reading the sensory story 'Dinosaur Roar'. We used voice recorders to record ROARS and then played them back. Mrs Toth also used them for words like stomp, chomp, gobble, munch and crunch. We have also used these when playing with the dinosaurs in cereal and play dough.
As we all enjoyed the snow so much we explored and played with play people and dinosaurs in ice and ice paints. They made lovely swirly marks in the tuff trays. We also enjoyed printing with potato mashers and other textured resources to create a large picture of a dinosaur. ROAR!!!
Week 1
Happy New Year! We have certainly had fun with a wintery weather theme this week. On Tuesday morning we brought some of the snow inside the classroom and explored it with our hands and our feet! We also went outside and made foot prints in it. We enjoyed a wintery sensory poem this week called 'Wintertime Wintertime'. We used torches and shone them on plastic icicles, snowflakes and disco balls. And we loved throwing paper snowballs around the room! Here is the link if you would like to look at it at home.

We enjoyed using new sensory rollers and printing shapes to paint snowy pictures. We also used them in white play-dough to create different textures. Outside everyone has had a turn inside our new rainbow den!
