Week 1

What glorious weather for returning to school.  In Iris class we have so much enjoyed the sunshine and the excuse it has given us to play outside.  Inside the classroom we have focused our learning around the sensory story of The Queen’s Hat, a lovely book that tours the reader around London’s sights in pursuit of the Queen’s windblown hat.

Week 2

So the sun has shone on, so we have continued to enjoy The Queen’s Hat, especially watching videos to understand the chiming Big Ben and the London underground.  On Earth day we explored our planet on Google Earth before getting stuck into some messy play to stamp paper plates blue.  We then collaged our blue plates with green paper to make our own planets.  On Friday we enjoyed painting with blue and red rollers, inspired by the minimalist colour-scheme of The Queen’s Hat illustrations.
