Week 2- Beginning 09/06/25
In English, the children have begun exploring the story of The Three Little Pigs. They have been identifying similes within the text and spotting words that use the prefix ‘un’, before using both techniques in their own writing. In Maths, the focus has been on learning about left and right, as well as practising ordinal numbers—1st to 5th—just in time for next week’s Sports Day races!
In History, the children have been learning about the origins of Parliament and its role in shaping our country. They also discussed how Parliament’s function in the past compares to how it works today.
Week 1- Beginning 03/06/25
Welcome back to the final half term of year 1. The children have been busy in English this week have been learning about similes and how they can use them to make their writing more creative and exciting to read. In Maths the children have finished their work on fractions for year 1 and have moved onto their second geometry unit of year 1 which is position and direction.
In art this term we are looking at sculptures and the children have now created their own sculptures using clay! the adorable penguins they have built are being left to dry before they paint them next week.
