Autumn 1

Welcome to Clover Class Pages!

Here you will find regular updates of our current learning, ways to help at home and topic knowledge organisers. Please have a look at these updates with your child and find time to talk about what they have been doing in class.  If you have any questions or comments please feel free to come and talk to us or email the school office. Thank you for your support, we look forward to working with you and your children!
Week 6
This week we have been learning about people who help us. We have looked at pictures and watched clips of when a police office, fire fighter, paramedic, vet or doctor would help us. We have enjoyed playing with the police Duplo and the vet role-play toys.

Some of us have also continued to mix colours using primary colours of paint, thinking about colours we could use to paint a picture of our faces.

We are all getting better at concentrating, sitting and looking when it is learning time. One of our favourite activities is drum fit!

Week 5

This week we have continued to explore colour mixing with paint and with pastels. We have had two very messy sessions where we have made different shades of purple, orange and green by mixing different amounts of red, yellow and blue.

We have been thinking about how people travel around our local environment. We listened to a great song from Barefoot books called 'Travelling By'.  You can watch again here.

We then talked about how we travel to school. Some of us come in a car, some of us ride in a taxi, some of us ride on a scooter and some of us walk.

We have also thought about some of the people that help us in our community. One of our favourite songs is about firefighters. Watch the song here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_I2ysM0w0g
Week 4

This week we have been learning about where we live and where our school is. We looked at some places we all know like a park, shop, house and put them on a map.

We have continued to explore colour in art and used the primary colours to make secondary colours, orange, green and blue.

At Forest School we loved playing with conkers, dropping them in water and making a splash and rolling them around the floor.

Week 3

This week we have been learning that humans grow and change. We watched some clips of what babies can do and then talked about what we can do now that babies can not. We also picked a picture of what we might like to do when we are older. Some of us wanted to be astronauts and gardeners!

In art we have been learning  about the primary colours. We have painted with them, used pastels and today we created a picture in the style of the artist Mondrian using the primary colours.

Week 2

We had great fun this week learning about what our bodies can do as part of our topic 'All about me'. We sang songs like head, shoulders, knees and toes, we played Simon says and we drew round each other and labelled parts of the body. Some parts were quite tricky to find like knuckles and ankles. Later in the week we thought of all the amazing things our bodies can do like jumping, climbing, balancing and twisting. We learnt about our bones, looked at pictures of x-rays and listened to a great story called 'Funnybones'. We painted pictures of our skeleton with white paint on black paper.

Week 7

We finished off the half term learning about how our environment changes through the year and focussed on the current season Autumn. We explored objects we would find in the outdoor environment during Autumn like conkers, acorns, seeds, pine cones and pumpkins. We enjoyed lots of sensory play with these objects including paint and scented playdough.
Week 1

This week has been all about settling in, getting to know each other, making new friends and getting to know the daily routines.  We have all loved spending time outside, sometimes on our own on the trim trail and sometimes on the playground with the whole school.

We have been learning how to sit and listen as a class for short amounts of time to take part in circle time, bucket, play circle and drum fit. We have been working on balancing in sensory circuits and finding our own drawer for TEACCH activities.

We have done lots of singing and have enjoyed learning the story of 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'. We have been busy printing with paint to create a picture of a meadow with clovers and a bridge for the goats.

We can't wait to see what fun we will have next week when we start our topic 'All about me'
