During this half term the children will be engaging in a topic about Kings and Queens. They will find out about King Charles III and the royal family, discover castles and palaces, learn about monarchs from the past and find out about democracy. We will, as always, link our writing opportunities to the topic and ensure that the children can apply their learning through interesting enhancements in our provision. We will complete the half term with a very royal activity! Keep a look out for a special invitation!

Week 2
Left, right, left, right, left, right! This week the children learnt that a palace is a special building where the King or Queen live and that the King has special guards to protect him. We found the changing of the guard ceremony really interesting to watch and it led to some very busy learning in COOL time. The children had noticed that their school uniforms looked similar to the smart uniform worn by the King's guards and so were keen to make themselves tall, black hats outs of paper to look like the bearskin hats worn by the guards.
Our future architects and designers were out in force creating palaces and castles with lots of patterned decorations in the block area too!
Week 1
Welcome back! We cannot quite believe that the children have now started their last term in Reception but we are looking forward to a fun packed term full of learning, smiles, achievement and progress. Despite it being a shorter week, our first week back after the break has been busy and productive. The children have slotted back into our routines and are already actively engaging with our new topic.
This week we introduced the children to our Royal family and are supporting literacy development with a focus on the text called The Queen's Hat. We have been learning about 3D shapes and exploring what can be done with flat and curved surfaces.
