The children drew out the scene which included a cave and a lake and then drew the main characters from the story - George, the Dragon and the Princess. The children enjoyed this so much we had a go at following a step by step guide on how to draw a dragon by author/illustrator Rob Biddulph. Have lovely, well deserved 2 weeks off. See you in the Summer term!
Week beginning 24th March 2025 - Week 5
In English this week the children learnt a new model text about the story Knuffle Bunny. We put the word 'walked' into a virtual bin and came up with new more interesting ways to travel. The children then composed their own sentences using the new, more interesting words. In Maths, the children explored measuring and comparing the length and height of objects found within the classroom, using cubes. They were then introduced to centimetres being a unit of measurement and used rulers to complete a similar task.
In History the children children discovered thar Oliver Cromwell was not a popular man. He banned many things like celebrating Christmas, dancing and playing sports. He also banned working on Sunday and swearing (not so bad!). In science the children explored the importance of recycling and where all our rubbish goes. They learnt that by recycling materials, we can reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, which can take up valuable land and cause environmental problems like pollution. The children did fantastic first performance to the school this week and are very excited to perform to you all next week.
