Week 3
This week the children have been producing some fantastic writing about Supertato and Evil Pea. They have been showcasing their improving handwriting and use of phonics to help them with their spellings as well as their enthusiasm and excitement to write.
In preparation for our upcoming trip to South Angle farm, the children have been discovering the names of different baby animals and thought that the name of a baby hedgehog was particularly cute. Did you know that they are called hoglets? They were also learning about the metamorphosis of a tadpole into a frog and that some creatures completely transform as they grow from baby to adult.
Week 2
What do plants need in order to grow? Well, this week the children have been finding out! Alongside this they have been observing Van Gogh's famous paintings such as Sunflowers and exploring the technique of using small brush strokes to create pictures.
PE looked slightly different this week as the children took part in pancake races instead to celebrate Shrove Tuesday!
Thursday saw us enjoying World Book Day and the children had a very creative day making masks, capes, skirts and even dresses to become characters from stories they love...or even new characters that they created on the day! From 'Super Kitty' to 'Queen Beach' and 'Elsa', the children's children's enthusiasm lasted longer than many of their costumes but a good day was had by all.
Week 1
This week the children have been exploring the seasons and became detectives as they explored our outside learning spaces looking for signs of Spring. Armed with their clipboards and magnifying glasses, they were very purposeful in searching for new signs of growth such as buds on branches and green shoots in the garden.
The children discovered some vegetables that needed rescuing from 'Evil Pea', as we launched our new text 'Supertato', and were keen to write to try and get help for them.
